i realize that sometimes a bad translation can make a wonderful book a complete nightmare.

But, suppose you read a few wonderful translations or even one huge translation of a certain author's work. with the assumption that you then could only find sub-wonderful translations of the aforementioned author's lesser work...would you be able to understand it better in your mind because of the previous reading?

i've been the victim of terrible translations...and the beneficiary of amazing ones.

i wish i could read in another language.

trust is such a big problem when it comes to translators.
